Week 6 - I’m Cancelling Winter

This week felt fairly unproductive and I’m blaming it on this eternal winter. It’s not nearly as bad as MT/MN winters, but still, I didn’t sign up for this weather when I moved here..!!

At home, I made some rocks and worked on a new goblet.

In the studio, I worked on my forms a bit and started a new one (not pictured because it’s still in the very beginning stages).

On Thursday, Jon Stein and Sara Torgison visited and gave some awesome demos and artist talks.

It was mindblowing watching Sara complete an entire near-life sized sculpture of a raccoon in a matter of hours. I really enjoyed connecting with both of them and hope to tour Queen City Clay when I head back to Wheeling to pick up my sculpture.

Behind the scenes this week, I completed four applications. I’m working hard this month to apply to as many summer opportunities as I can.

This week was quiet in the wild clay/glaze testing realm… the kiln with our fusion tests failed to hit temp, so that’s on stand still for the time being. But I did fire my Kentuckiana wild clay tester “rocks” to 04 and have updated my “wild clay” page with those results. (:
