Week 7 - Doing What I Can

This week, most of my studio hours were spent working on my sculptural forms. Outside of the studio, I applied to 4 summer opportunities. I am so, so busy, and life threw some punches at me this week, but I keep reminding myself that everything that needs to happen will happen, and it’s all gonna be okay. But sheeshhh, it’s a hectic time.

My NC wild clay tests came out of the cone 6 and 10 firings (none melted or bloated!), as well as my fusion buttons with the IUS creek and Cherokee Park clay.

I also did my first line blend with Dolly’s Russian Hotel Shino, which is my go-to liner glaze for my sculptural vessels. I chose Redart as my variable, in 1.5% increments. I am very curious to see how the content affects the color variation and flux of the glaze.

I don’t feel great about these WIP forms, — I wish I had more time to work on them — but I’m doing what I can and am hopeful to have at least one of them in the soda I’m firing on March 15-16th, before my big trip. I’ve got a lot of things that need to be done on that day, and it’s daunting on top of the 45 hour work week I have ahead of me (lots of coworkers called off). Hopefully I can get a shift covered and gain some studio hours.
